Organ Restrictions (Visceral)
Problems arise from surgical scarring, pregnancy, trauma or a problem within the organ.
Organs such as the liver, colon and lungs have important functions that we don’t claim to treat. We are grateful for other medical providers who are able to provide care for issues that cause severe problems and may even become life-threatening. At Manual Solutions Physical Therapy, we treat commonly overlooked mechanical issues associated with the organs. Organs are large and often heavy structures that move with the rest of the body. If the organs get “stuck” and can’t slide in relation to one another or surrounding muscles and bones the result is stiffness, pain, and compensation. If openings or valves in the stomach or intestines get “stuck” the result is constipation, reflux or pain in the surrounding joints. It takes finely tuned palpation skills to feel the organs from the outside, but we have the training to do it. Common treatments include mobilizing a lung to improve breathing and decrease neck and upper back pain, mobilizing the liver to improve the ability to reach, twist or soften a stubborn scoliosis. Mobilization of the uterus to decrease menstrual pain or decrease pressure on the nerves that sit behind it. In a healthy body, organs have the freedom contract and move and the valves open and close. Problems arise from surgical scarring, pregnancy, trauma or a problem within the organ. We add our skills to those of other doctors to make your life better.
