Concussions and Cranial Problems

Our Manual Therapy Skills allow us to decompress the sutures of the skull and restore the small movements that are necessary to be healthy

We have successfully treated cranial issues for years.  In that time, we have spoken with patients who were told that the bones of the head are fused and don’t move after age two.  Others have told us that they became frustrated because they didn’t notice changes when practitioners treated them with very light touch.  We can assure you that we can mobilize the bones and you will feel a change.  Our skulls are made up of many bones that connect at sutures.  Sutures create joints where the bones can move in relation to one another.  The result is a skull that can absorb force without cracking.  If you hit your head and the bones were truly fused, the thin bones in your skull would fracture.  The concept of using small joints to allow for movement is the same for concrete.  When laying a large concrete pad, the engineer leaves suture like gaps so that it won’t crack with settling ground or an earthquake.  Our Manual Therapy Skills allow us to decompress the sutures of the skull and restore the small movements that are necessary to be healthy.  The most common changes reported by patients are a sense of decreased pressure, improved sinus drainage or headache relieve.  We also use these techniques as part of treatments for TMJ dysfunction, cranial nerves issues and with swallowing or breathing problems.
