Running Program

The ability to perform at high levels and run without injury doesn’t just happen.  It requires discipline, training, and know-how.  At Manual Solutions Physical Therapy, our therapists have been teaching runners to perform at a higher level for more than 10 years.  We use video assessment, manual testing and detailed observation to identify areas of stress or inefficiency.  We will then use our Manual skills and knowledge of anatomy to mobilize areas of restrictions, create appropriate strength and improve motor control.

For endurance running we have identified five areas of focus

  1. Using the core to propel you forward.

  2. Creating a whole foot strike to absorb and distribute your body’s weight.

  3. Improving flexibility to decrease resistance within your body.

  4. Learning to maintain healthy alignment and lean.

  5. Establishing appropriate leg and arm movement to create momentum and eliminate side to side movements.

For speed and agility training our five areas of focus are

  1. Connecting the core and legs so they work together without losing power. 

  2. Efficient form to keep you from using movements that waste energy and power.

  3. Flexibility to decrease resistance within your body.

  4. Improving strength and power in the muscles that push you forward.

  5. Speed and reaction time to increase your cadence.

No matter your skill level or the injuries that you have had in the past, we can help you to excel.  We have combined ability to perform the Manual Techniques and the knowledge of running to get you where you want to be.
